You are God’s Masterpiece

You are God’s masterpiece, fearfully and wonderfully made in His image (Psalms 139:14 & Genesis 1:27).  And as God’s masterpiece, let no one convince you otherwise. God created the world in six days and rested on the seventh day, but He is continually working on you every day without a single day of rest. You are a lifelong work of art.

The Bible tells us that we are His workmanship (Ephesians 2:10), the word workmanship here denotes a skilled craftsman, skillfully creating a work of art or masterpiece.

The Tapestry

The faith patriarch and Author of “The Hiding Place” Corrie Ten Boom beautifully put it this way:

My life is but a weaving

Between my God and me.

I cannot choose the colors

He weaveth steadily.

Oft’ times He weaveth sorrow;

And I in foolish pride

Forget He sees the upper

And I the underside.

Not ’til the loom is silent

And the shuttles cease to fly

Will God unroll the canvas

And reveal the reason why.

The dark threads are as needful

In the weaver’s skillful hand

As the threads of gold and silver

In the pattern He has planned

He knows, He loves, He cares;

Nothing this truth can dim.

He gives the very best to those

Who leave the choice to Him.

Author and Finisher

The bible tells us that God is the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). Therefore it is His penmanship that defines our life and faith in Him, and it is He alone that will finish it (Philippians 1:6). And though things may not go the way we want them to, let’s not gaze at our situation, rather look unto to Him. Because Life is not about what happened to you, rather life is about what happened for you. It’s not about looking back, but looking forward. In fact, there is no reason to look back when you have so much to look forward to.

Therefore, sometimes we need to learn to leave who we were. Love who we are and look forward to who we become in Christ Jesus our Lord, and allow Him to make us His masterpiece.
